Ingredients

- pumpkin puree – make sure you’re not using pumpkin pie filling, they’re different!
- pumpkin pie spice – see below for substitutions if you don’t have it!
- nonfat Greek yogurt – you can use plain greek yogurt or plain yogurt as well.
- vanilla protein powder
- milk – any milk will work in this recipe, you can opt for coconut milk or other non-dairy milk.
You’ll also need a good blender. We love this blender, but if you’re looking for a cheaper option this is a great low cost blender.
Substitutions
Pumpkin Puree: I’ve only made this recipe with canned pumpkin puree, but I bet you could also use applesauce to make an apple smoothie.
Pumpkin Pie Spice: If you don’t have pumpkin pie spice you can use: 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger, a dash of nutmeg, and ground cloves
Nonfat Greek Yogurt: You can use plain greek yogurt or plain yogurt. Vanilla yogurt would also work in this recipe.
Protein Powder: Any protein powder will work in this recipe. I like to use vanilla protein powder (this is our favorite protein powder) but you could use chocolate too!
Milk: I think whole milk is best in this recipe, but you can use any non-dairy milk you like or skim milk. Soy milk, coconut milk, or almond milk are good alternatives.
Vegan: To make this pumpkin smoothie vegan use dairy free yogurt and vegan vanilla protein powder.
To Make it Lower Carb: This is a pretty low carb smoothie, the only carbs come from the milk and pumpkin. Opt for a low carb protein powder.
How to Make a high protein pumpkin smoothie

- In a blender, add all ingredients.

- Blend until smooth and enjoy!
Liz’s Pro Tip:
Make sure to choose a good quality protein powder. This is our favorite protein powder because it’s made with only 3 simple ingredients. (It also tastes amazing!)

Storage
Storing: This pumpkin spice protein shake will last in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, however, we don’t recommend storing this smoothie for long. It’s best to enjoy it right after blending.
If you store this in the fridge it will likely separate so it’s best to re-blend it before enjoying if you have to.

SO good! Tastes just like pumpkin pie. Made exactly as the recipe states above, but used vanilla greek yogurt as I already had that on hand.

I will try this substituting low-fat kefir for the yogurt and milk. Otherwise it looks lovely!
