With the 2016 deadline for BIM level 2 fast approaching and the growing realisation of the huge benefits BIM brings these skills are becoming industry essentials. Spanning both organisational strategy and day-to-day practical tasks it explores bottom line business reasoning as well as potential risks and challenges.

Extra features include:

• Case studies that demonstrate real world approaches as well as problems and solutions
• Checklists for adequately resourcing BIM roles and responsibilities in relation to PAS-1192
• Self-check questions allowing you to evaluate your BIM implementation methodology

Some reviews from Ribabookshops.com :

David Miller Director, David Miller Architects
This handbook offers clear practical advice, which distils years of practical experience into a single source which manages to be both detailed and accessible. It is a roadmap for a practice wanting to get to grips with BIM without drama.
The book starts with a clear unambiguous description of Level Two BIM then goes onto suggest strategies for implementation, and importantly, techniques to monitor and measure maturity. Building on this foundation the book David Shepherd goes on to explore contractual implications, techniques for collaboration and organisational culture and structure.
Without doubt this is a great resource for those wanting to ‘fast track’ their organisations’ BIM maturity for competitive advantage.

Dale Sinclair, Director of Technical Practice, AECOM
Analogue deliverables have long been the norm, even since the advent of CAD. We are rapidly moving to a profoundly different era where digital deliverables are commonplace adding value to the whole life of our projects, revealing new stage 7 to 0 activities. David’s book provides valuable insights into the subjects that practitioners will need to understand, prepare and plan for if they are to transition to this new world.

Graham H Stewart, Director, UK Head of BIM/IBT, Ramboll UK
If you want to know what standards & processes to use at each RIBA stage for UK BIM Level 2 then this book is for you. David has provided a book that cuts through all the jargon and confusion and provided simple steps for all to follow.

Richard Saxon CBE, Chairman of JCT
This book is a key source book for the new creature called a BIM or Information Manager. Its authority flows from the author’s many years in HOK, the practice with the longest and deepest commitment to BIM. The chapter on contracts by Professor David Mosey will also be particularly valued.
