After being a Thrive Market member for over 4 years, I’ve put together the most comprehensive Thrive Market Review for you!
We’ve tested hundreds of products and compared the costs against grocery store prices so you don’t have to. This post will answer any question you have about Thrive Market before you decide if it’s right for you. Plus – we even have a deal where you’ll get 30% off your first order and a free gift!
What is Thrive Market?
Thrive Market is an online marketplace that offers discounted prices on natural/organic food, wine, household, and bath/body products. Many of their products are up to 50% off retail prices, almost like wholesale prices. It basically is like Costco, meets Whole Foods.. but online!
You can filter and shop by diet (keto, organic, whole30, paleo, etc) which is super helpful, and they offer brand names as well as their own brand of products.
Thrive Market does have a membership fee, which I’m sharing all the details about below.

Thrive Market does have a membership cost, but I think it pretty much pays for itself if you use it at least once a month.
I know I personally would spend at least $5 a month just in gas driving to/from the grocery store, and that doesn’t even factor in the money you save due to the low cost/sales on Thrive.

Is Thrive Market Worth it?
I think Thrive Market is 100% worth it. Thrive Market has a cool feature where they show you how much you’ve saved over the year by shopping with them. If you don’t at least save the amount of your membership, they’ll credit you! It’s pretty easy to meet that though.
After using Thrive for the past 4 years, here’s what I think:
We order at least one time a month. If your order is over $49 shipping is free. The way I see it… I’d spend at least $5 a month in gas driving to/from the grocery store.
Then there is the fact that everything is discounted. Between the brand name products I love that are discounted, and the fact that the Thrive brand of products is much cheaper than many store brands – I’m saving even more.
Thrive Market Brand Products are awesome. We’ve swapped from name brand to Thrive Market brand on many products we use daily like collagen, spices, olive oil + more.
Who is Thrive Market good for?
- Someone that buys a lot of convenience products (think dressings, prepackaged snacks, sauces, etc.)
- Someone who shops at Whole Foods a lot
- People interested in buying organic foods
- People who follow a specific diet (keto, paleo, whole30, etc)
You’ll love Thrive Market if you:
I think most people will enjoy Thrive Market, but it will be especially helpful if you fall into any of these categories:
- Live far away from specialty grocers / whole foods. If you can’t find certain brands/products in stores – this will be helpful for you
- Buy a lot of ‘specialty’ products (specific dressings, sauces, canned goods, etc)
- Short on time (Who doesn’t love grocery delivery!?)
- Hate going to the grocery stores
- Want to save some $$ but aren’t willing to go crazy watching sales/going to multiple stores

My favorite thing from my first Thrive Market order is the collagen peptides. They were $25.99 compared to the brand I normally use, which is $43. As far as I can tell they taste identical and mix into my coffee perfectly! Here’s the link to them
Cons of Thrive Market:
- Membership cost – Obviously I would love if this were free, but I think the cost of membership is low enough that it’s worth doing! (And if you don’t save at least the cost of your membership they will refund it to you!)
- Shipping takes 4-6 days– This isn’t really a con, but I know many people are used to same day/next day delivery.
Tips for ordering on Thrive Market:
Fill up your cart as you think of things -Whenever I run low on an item – I just add it to my Thrive Market cart. When I hit the $49 threshold for free shipping, I place my order.
Think ahead– Usually it takes 4-6 days for my Thrive order to come, so just plan ahead so you can have what you need in time.
Look through your previously ordered section for easy shopping – I order a lot of the same things on Thrive so it’s nice to look under the previously ordered section and quickly add things to my cart.
How to save Money on Thrive Market
Watch the sales/freebies! Sometimes they have sales for specific brands, or they’ll give away certain products if you spend a certain amount (I got two free boxes of our favorite crackers the other day because it was the deal of the day!) If you can wait/hold off – keep things in your cart until they have a sale that you like or a freebie 🙂
Buy name brand products on Thrive Market instead of other stores. When I did a cost comparison, name brand products were significantly cheaper on Thrive Market vs any other stores. (Walmart, Vitacost and Whole Foods, scroll below for chart comparison!)
I think that where you save the most money on Thrive Market are through the name brand products though.. especially if you order a lot of them.

Is Thrive Market Legit?
Heck yes it is! These are some of our favorite things about Thrive Market.
- Organic – If you’re into buying all organic, they have good prices for organic products, and a wide variety of products to choose from
- Can sort by diet – This is huge if you are new to eating paleo, keto, Whole30, etc. It is super easy to filter by diet!
- They give back – With every membership purchased they give a membership to someone in need
- Freebies/Coupons – They offer freebies once you get to a certain threshold in your cart. They also are always having huge sales which they email you about!
- Free delivery when you spend over $49 (which is pretty easy to do!)
- Variety – I like that there is everything from food to cleaning products

Shopping by Diet on Thrive Market
One of my favorite things about Thrive Market is that you can shop by diet. When you go to their homepage, you can click ‘Shop by diet’ and then you can click to sort by whatever diet you follow.
For example, when you click gluten free – it will take you to all their gluten free options (which includes thousands of products). Then you can further specify/ shop by different types of products (food, supplements, beauty, etc) and even further specify by vegan, paleo, etc.
Thrive Market Cost Comparison vs Stores
It’s hard to do a direct comparison between Thrive Market and other stores – but here’s what I found.
Thrive Market vs Lucky Vitamin– For most items, Thrive Market was usually 10-20 cents cheaper. Depending on how often you’re ordering – I’m not sure if you really are saving with Thrive because of the cost of membership. There is no membership with Lucky Vitamin, so when you add up the 10-20 cents per item, you’d have to be buying at least 600 products a year to offset the cost.
Thrive Market vs VitaCost – People love VitaCost but I’ve never been a fan. While they have decent prices, they have very little variety. Some of my favorite brands like Chomps + Tessemae’s were not on VitaCost
Thrive Market vs Aldi – Aldi seemed to win on most things I compared it to (chicken stock, salsa, pasta, etc). However, Aldi had a very limited selection compared to Thrive in terms of healthy/organic food.
Thrive Market vs Whole Foods – Thrive Market was the clear winner. Whole Foods is great, but their prices are definitely higher. For most pantry staples, Thrive was cheaper.
Thrive Market vs Costco – Thrive Market definitely has more variety and more organic pantry options than Costco has. It was hard to do a true cost comparison to Costco because of this. However – at Costco you can get produce, which is huge for me.
Thrive Market vs Whole Foods
I did a deep dive on price comparisons for Thrive Market vs Whole Foods and found that Thrive Market was cheaper than Whole Foods for some ingredients, and Whole Foods was cheaper than Thrive Market on others..
I compared Whole Foods 365 prices vs Thrive Market brand prices. The Thrive Market Brand Prices were slightly more than Whole Foods brand for generic items.

However, when looking at name brand items – Thrive Market was considerably cheaper for name brand itemsacross the board.

Where you can really save $$ with Thrive Market is on name brands. It is much cheaper than Whole Foods!
Thrive Market vs VitaCost
I’m not a Vitacost Shopper, but I checked their prices on the same items to compare to Thrive Market. I found that for all items Vitacost was more expensive than Thrive Market and Whole Foods. Here”s what I found:

I found that VitaCost didn’t let you buy a lot of single serving things. For example, the Nut Pods had to be purchased in a pack of 12, which is fine if you know you like it!
VitaCost does often do discounts. When I was looking at the site there was a 15% off sitewide, so it would bring the cost down, but even at 15% off it’s still more expensive than Thrive Market.
Thrive Market vs Walmart
I also looked at Thrive Market vs Walmart Pricing. I was not impressed! Walmart’s prices were significantly higher than Thrive Market. I’m not sure if this has to do with where I live or their online ordering, but Thrive market was much cheaper.

Thrive Market FAQ
Yes, you do. If you are someone who orders a lot of specialty foods (think sauces, flours, etc) you will definitely save money with Thrive Market. Thrive Market actually calculates your savings with every order and if you don’t save the total cost of your membership within a year they will refund it to you.
Yes, Thrive is worth the money. Thrive Market does have a membership cost, but I think it pretty much pays for itself if you use it at least once a month.
No, Thrive Market is not owned by Amazon. It is it’s own entity.
Thrive Market and Amazon are very different. Amazon sells pretty much everything, while Thrive Market specializes in offering savings on health food and clean living products. We have an amazon Prime membership and a Thrive Market membership because they serve different purposes.
Does Thrive Market Really Save Money?
Yes, it does. Thrive Market prices are awesome, and when you shop smart – you totally can save money!
Overall, I recommend Thrive Market. There is a ton of variety on their site + the products have all been great so far.

Over 40 years ago, and to this day it is hard to find gluten-free staples in major grocery stores. I shop different stores for different items. Flour in one store cornmeal in another,ect.I cook and bake gluten-free and it’s hard. So I’m wanting to know if you have a large variety of gluten-free foods available for me.

I signed up for one month, that’s 12.00 now and I went to shop. They didn’t have most things I was interested in.that is fresh fruit oryogurts that I eat on a daily basis. There was no way to cancel immediately. They leave no address to

Thanks for giving a good run down on how it works. I’m sick of going to so many different stores and finding out that while they claim it’s in stock online it’s actually no longer carried or at a higher price. I have tried meal plans but am looking at the Blue Zones diet and a possibly an elimination diet. I’m really impressed with the brands they do carry because they’re always so expensive where I live and I go to a place I can’t stand instead. If I can go elsewhere for better ingredients and help the environment that’s a win-win.
I’m going to have to try them out. Frankly if I can avoid going into town altogether it frees up my precious time for other things I have to catch up on. Their membership looks to be the best bang for the buck that I have seen so far. Now to figure out meat and fresh veggies. Once you have home grown veggies nothing else really works and I missed that the most when I moved.

I’m looking for gluten free. I am new to gluten free eating so I want to know if what I’m buying is really gluten free. Does Thrive have a good variety of clearly labeled , true gluten free meals. I tried to look, but seems before I can look at their foods I have to buy a membership. I don’t mind buying a membership , but I think it’s not good to not know if I’m going to be getting the value by knowing they have the foods I want.

This appears to be a logical review and one I concur with. I recently started the trial and based on the affordability of some of the products (canned meat as you mentioned, natural hair care items, spices/seasonings), it’s cheaper frankly than going to the store. Moreover, the quality is excellent.
I am going to continue with Thrive after my trial ends and I am happy to have discovered Thrive during my sojourn through the web.
